Hello All

Baker7Zero

Double Actioner
Hi all, I am a total airbrush n00b (2 weeks experience), so expect many silly questions.
I am from Northern Virginia (right outside of DC)
I recently got into customizing my kid's action figures (COVID hobby)
I mainly use Vallejo paints
My airbrush is Iwata Eclipse HP-CS

Thanks for the add

Welcome Home Baker or should I call ya Witcher ? Toss a coin to your witcher :D
Spent some time at Ft. Belvoir but lived in Springfield up off I95. That was a life time ago LOL
What action figures you painting up for your kid's?

Hey there! Yep, killing monsters is hard work, but someone got to do it.
Ft. Belvoir is where I've been working for over a decade, so small world, lol
As far as action figures: I just finished The Thing and Loki and preparing to do Superman (just can't find one that I am happy with). The pics included were done by hand, but I am really excited to see what an airbrush can do. thumbnail_2620A8F1-1329-4100-9F25-2A64D957FCF8.jpg thumbnail_129F7184-7A64-4DB4-A67B-6B72F6F95030.jpg thumbnail_2620A8F1-1329-4100-9F25-2A64D957FCF8.jpg thumbnail_129F7184-7A64-4DB4-A67B-6B72F6F95030.jpg thumbnail_2620A8F1-1329-4100-9F25-2A64D957FCF8.jpg thumbnail_129F7184-7A64-4DB4-A67B-6B72F6F95030.jpg thumbnail_2620A8F1-1329-4100-9F25-2A64D957FCF8.jpg thumbnail_129F7184-7A64-4DB4-A67B-6B72F6F95030.jpg

Those look really great . Of course I like the Thing the most .
I trained new officers back in the 80's for about a year there. God I hated training idiots LOL It was easier to train new recruits fresh out of high school then them. I was so glad I was a CWO :D
Using the airbrush you can get some cool effects on miniatures if you want a wash over them you can mix your color (opaque or transparent) into a clear to make it even more transparent.

haha, I hear that. I got out of the Army back in 08, been working at Belvoir ever since. Can't beat the commute.
Definitely excited to try my hand at airbrushing, seems like an awesome skill to learn.

Welcome Baker! These figures are looking awesome, I’m looking forward to seeing what you get up to with your new airbrush. It’s cliché but there’s no such thing as silly questions. Well maybe a couple, but I’ve probably asked them already. The best advice I’d give is to post up pictures of what you’re getting done. It does not matter at all what it looks like, but I remember being new here and when I posted pics I got advice I didn’t even know I needed lol. Welcome and have fun.

Welcome from Australia,
I love how different they look from fresh out the box, its amazing what a little extra paint will do.
an airbrush like anything else is just a tool, sometimes its the right tool, sometimes a paint brush is needed. play around on some el cheapo dollar store toys and you'll soon figure out when to use what.
