Hello All,

My name is John and I'm a transplant from NY to Kansas City. One of my hobbies is O scale model trains.

Since I've built my 8x9 table as much as I can with all the rolling stock I need, I've decided to start weathering some of my train cars. I am by no means, what-so-ever, artistically inclined. I cannot draw anything better than stickmen.

I have started out by purchasing a cheap Master G233 to wet my feet. Ya know, just to see how how these things are built and learning the basic care and operations.

I'll post an equipment question in appropriate forum.

Later,
Johnny

Welcome from Australia:)
There is no problem using generic brushes as long as you recognise their limitations and their build quality (or lack there of)
I, like many here, started with a couple of generic brushes rather than drop $$ on a hobby that wasn’t going to be for me. I was hooked within a day and I upgraded within a month. generics will give you a taste of how to put paint on substrate and how to properly maintain your brush without fear of breaking a ‘rolls Royce’ :)
Put paint in it, spray and test and practise and play and tear it down and give it a good clean.

you’ll have questions and probably lots of them and that’s when you try a search, if you’re still stuck then start a thread and ask away :)

Excellent excellent! I got my start in airbrushing doing feathered edge camouflage on model airplanes.

just one tip: in regards to airbrushing, always by quality; you’ll cry only once.
