Paasche Talon GF keeps Clogging

Hi to you,

I've bought a Talon FG a couples months ago and from the begenning I'm struggling with constant clogging.
I'm using it with a Paasche Airhose with quick disconnect coupler on a standard Mastercraft compressor, equiped with a moiseture trap.

The size 2 needle AND size 1 needle with respective aircaps and nozzles. Both have the same problem. I can spray maybe 15 seconds before airbrush stop to shoot. The airbrush is perfectly clean and needles in good shape.

I'm spraying Vallejo Model Air 10 drops, with 2 drops of Airflow Improver at 15 PSI. With my Badger 150 (with all three needles sizes) it works just perfect. But with the Paasche it just keeps clogging and clogging... Tried higher pressure (20-30 PSI), more thinned paint about 30% Thinner 60% paint 10% Improver and the problem is still there... I see bubbles in the cup and it clogs the second after. And at this ratio, the model air is even overthinned to be usable...

I bought this airbrush for more detailed jobs such as camouflage and in thoses conditions I can't do it. I bought a Paasche thinking about a better quality product compared to badger but I fear that I was wrong...

I can't understand why with the Badger all is fine and with the Paasche it's just bullsh...

Can someone help me please?

Bubbles in the cup are the big clue here.
Usually a symptom of a dirty nozzle, yes you’ve cleaned it but not well enough - we’ve all been guilty of thinking it’s clean when it’s not.
Stick the dirty nozzles into some cleaner, let it soak for awhile then use a long bristled hairy brush to clean inside the nozzle.
Also worth checking the nozzle for splits/cracks. Don’t overtighten anything, firm finger tight is sufficient

When putting the tip in, just tweek it tight with the wrench....do not reef on it, just a "oomph"...(if you know what I mean)
For the air cap, tighten it by finger only (snug)...now look at the front edge and see if the tip centers inside the cap. loosen or tighten until it is. Put water in the cup, and spray, watching your spray as it comes out. Now move the cap (slightly) and see how it comes out....you will see it change...
I set my Talon like this before I even put paint in....
These brushes do not like to be rammed tight, especially the air cap ...Once you do that, it will not spray very well.
And, use Createx restorer and soak the tip then clean like Jackie stated. I also use an old needle and lightly ream the inside of the tip to remove any stubborn dried paint.
Just remember, these (all) airbrushes are a precision instruments, so if you get rammy, you will do more harm than good. The talon is a beast of its own, so what you do with a Badger, might not work with the Talon...I have both also and they are different, in their own way...
And double check you have the matching sets (lines) for needle, tip and air cap. I have done that, and it was an "oops" moment...lollollol
Cheers, hope this helps

Thanks for your response!

I use the correct combo first. As for the cleaning I will double check for sure. And for the tip I screw it with the wrench making sure that I don't overtight it. As for the aircap, I noticed that when I use (only) the size #1 needle combo the aircap rub against the tip I can sense it when I screw the aircap. And for the pressure, what do you recommand me for Vallejo Model Air and thinning ratio? Should I use more Airflow Improver than Thinner?

Thanks for your advices and experience!

I'll throw this out there. The aircap on those can be viewed like a focus adjustment on a camera. Most airbrushes are precise enough this is NOT how they work. The Talon has such variance that they consider moving the aircap in and out an adjustment to basically makeup for the poor machining skills.
Also, if Badger works, just jump ship and sell that Paasche and don't look back. I'm NOT a fan of Paasche and wouldn't use one if it was given to me for free.

Hi again Guys,

I've done some researches and tried to put more AirFlow Improver like 30% paint 70% at 22 PSI all was OK, like clogging but adding some thinner it will be OK.

As for the aircap, when I fully screw it I got some bubbles so as unscrew it about 1 and half turn clogging really stopped but I have air leak from the aircap threads... Like Leakyvalve told, this is just not acceptable for the price I've paid for it. Gor some contact with Paasche to get a resolution from them if not I will surely get it out right away and aim at the Badger Patriot 105 or the Extreme version...

Thanks to you guys!

Just a heads up, on Badger I see your in Canada, Badger parts are hard (near impossible) to find here, "in-stock" which means having to purchase from our neighbours down south.
