New to airbrushing

Ozark Sawdust

Young Tutorling
My name's Gary...and I'm a newbie...lol. I'm a scroll saw artist and thought it would be a great addition to my work. You can see some of it at ozarksawdust.com . The item that prompted this is a Cancer Ribbon I do. I was just was working on an order of 4 and couldn't get the paint the way I wanted from a "rattle can", it was a little like an orange peal...at best. I cut a cancer ribbon with butterfly wings, then give it a base coat of white. Next I run a light pink shade across the middle of both wings (top to bottom) and brush paint the ribbon a solid color for the type of cancer, ie. pink for breast cancer. I think using an airbrush would let me smooth out the painting.

There's also a lot of other things I could add a little color to, and possibly use it to do a better job spraying Lacquer and other finishing and stain. As an afterthought...if I had the equipment anyway, maybe I could do airbrush tattoos with stencils at craft shows that I sell at...???

Welcome from Australia,
Nice work on the scroll saw. From what you describe for the painting I think an Airbrush will be an asset, blends are relatively easy - once you’ve done some basic practise :)
Createx Wicked/wicked detail would be my suggestion,
If you’re planning on doing temp tattoos you’ll also need body paint:)
I look forward to seeing your progress on these.
