Hi - I'm pmpski_1.

I've been doing art and building things my entire life. I've owned an airbrush since the mid 1980s, but it's brand new, still in the box. I've always wanted to learn how to use it, but kept putting it off.

I've done a lot of work with oil and acrylic, brush on canvas or wood. I went to art school a million years ago, and 2 million years ago I learned how to fix and paint autos. So, I'm familiar with art fundamentals and a little bit of air based painting, although not at the same time!

My influences are vast, everything from the Old Masters, to Rothko, to Lowrider and Hot Rod car culture. I appreciate the talent and hard work people put into their art. Even if I don't like it, passion for what you do is inspiring to me.

I also build things. Whatever I want, but typically things made from wood or other DIY projects. Furniture, leatherwork, sewing, all kinds of stuff really. I see something I like, and then decide that I want to build it myself so I can put my own twist on it. My latest foray has been into DIY audio. Last month I built my first set of speakers from a kit, and I'm really impressed with how good they sound...Next up will be a portable bluetooth enabled speaker, then maybe a DIY tube amp.

I'm based just outside of Seattle WA, USA, and love living here in the Pacific North West.

About that 80s era airbrush - It's a Paasche VL, and I have a shop compressor to put air through it. 33 gallons at 150 psi. I typically use it for air tools, let's see if it'll work for airbrushing!

officially welcome from Australia :)

lots of info around here we like to help, you'll also get an abundance of encouragement and help as you dip your toe in the water. you will have 1,001 questions and most will have been covered before but don't hesitate to ask if you can't find answers

Oh, and what re-kindled my interest in airbrushing? I've been following an artist named Moetallica on Instagram. I'm updating a rifle stock, and he inspired me to do something like that. I'm oversimplifying here, but he takes skateboards and repaints them with flake, metallics, and pearls. I think my rifle stock will look good in that style. Not what people expect on a rifle. I like doing things that are slightly out of the ordinary!

Welcome! It’s cool that you’ve decided to break that bad boy outta the box at last lol. Now get some paint in there and start making a glorious mess.
