Just admit it! It was the funniest comment on this post
Hey is one of these guys you...? https://www.boredpanda.com/working-...oogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic
After having read this thread, I’ve lost my faith in humanity.
I for one would never paint anything I did not prep and would never send out a piece with out being cleared.
Being you are not skilled enough to learn to airbrush it yourself tells me your not skilled enough to know how to prep the surface correctly let alone apply a smooth even clear coat on it.
See in order to get good at anything in life you have to put in the practice time. Driving a car took you time to practice driving , working at what ever day job you have took practice to keep you from getting FIRED! If you only picked up an airbrush once and pulled the trigger and thought I can't do this then you need to practice being more positive.
But as stated by everyone on here no one will paint your helmet for Free, You best bet is see if they have a local area vocational school that teaches auto body and paint , There is usually a student who it trying to learn airbrushing there but still it will cost you the price of materials.
Unless of course you own House of Kolor paint company or PPG or SEM or Createx and are sending all the color you company makes a long with the helmet then maybe you might have a snow ball chance in hell of finding a free artist.
Whoever coined the term “free”lancer should be condemned to lifelong prison.
I was asked this week if I could do a picture of lemmy kilmister (motorhead) ,and what my price would be? Told them an 8x10 would be $125.00 u.s.d (pretty cheap for just time spent to do it not counting supplys) and go up from there,I haven't gotten a reply back yet? I think they think my price is to high? What do they think I paint for nothing? (And thats a cheap price I know)
Stay here long enough and you will get it back!
Interestingly enough, there is an artwork out there that I'm interested in buying. I'm afraid to even talk to the guy cuz I don't want to insult him!
How dare you think you are worth more than $1 an hour !! and it should only take you an hour or two at the most... !!
It's not my price its the added cost to my healthcare of compressing the air and blowing it thru the straw and hope not to suck in to much paint and thinner
It’s time for an union like the writers in Hollywood have...
So let me see... I would insist on doing the prep... I've had people prep for me before and it took longer to repair the crap work than if I did it myself... and I want to make sure if I paint on something it's going to stick. Then design work, probably $100.00 then prep, mask and paint, $300 to $500.00 depending on the design and clear $100 plus materials I would think maybe $50.00. Any additional changes to the design or layout after the agreed work would be charged at $75.00/hour (minimum 2 hour charge) to make the changes.
So without any variations to the design the starting would be $550.00 to $750.00 with any changes an additional charge. Then delivery on top of that (to me and back...).
Of course if there was more than one (so I didn't have to recoup all my costs plus profit) out of one helmet I would be amenable to reducing the costs and I would be able to get efficiency in the system so could probably bring the prep, mask and paint, including clear, down to abut $250 to $450 with the design being a one off charge.
