The bird brain-that would be me....used an Iwata Micron SB..and Eclipse SB /Createx illustration color. hard and soft erasers and a wooden dowel and the good ole X-Acto knife that I only stuck myself twice with.

Tried a canvas this time. I put two coats of gesso on it and sanded in-between-it was still not perfectly smooth but close enough. I printed out my image the exact size I needed. I traced it to the canvas. So I saw (on youtube-so you know it has to be true) someone put liquid mask around the edge of their object that was fur. I tried it with my bird friend and it didn't work so good. I had to take an Xacto and scrap the edge smoother. I may try again but pay more attention on how I brush it on. I taped off image and used some frisket on some of the smaller areas and tape on the rest. I and sprayed my background in. I like to put it in first and then scratch onto it around the edges where the fine feathers went so it doesn't look cut-out.
I used a loose cut out to cover the background /hand/piece of paper to control the over-spray. It was a lost like doing hair only most of the strokes and scrapping with the razor is more controlled and not as random.

So I had penciled in all the detail and went back and erased it before starting the bird...I just cut out some guides in my reference and went from there., I taped up the branch and sprayed it, and used a Blair "dot "stencil to give it some more texture, scratched and erased with a soft and hard eraser.
The canvas was a pain to prep, and I would get a higher end one to try at some point (these were level 2 from Michales). It did hold paint really well and took tape with out pulling to much paint up-(I yanked it up once,,,dah!) erased and scratched really well. I have been trying Yupo but you can't tape on it...Illustration board I have to gesso it as well so I thought I would do the canvas as it does look better in the long run.
