This is my third approach to the fire and the first of which I am happy:) This is just a practice for my actual helmet project.

    Canvas: foamed pvc 25cm x 35cm
Airbrush: iwata hp-cp 0.3, paasche talon 0.5, iwata lph-80 (just for black base color)
Paints only urethanes: black base for background, white base for details, blue candy, turquoise candy.
    Tools: homemade curved shields
    Time: ~2hrs

First layer: iwata hp-cp 0.3, white base. I create every shape in this order: hot concave curve first (using the shield), than freehand convex line. I try to place each line in one move. There was no sketch, no guide lines. I follow my intuition and some reference pictures:

First color layer: paasche talon 0.5, blue candy over white:

Second layer (white). I try to stay within blue flames, but not exactly follow them:

Second color layer: turquoise candy over whole fire:

It looks like smoke to me, but even so, I like it:) I did not want to overdo it, so it's finished.

Very nice! It is the hardest thing to get right IMO...I don't think I'll ever get it just right.
But this is a great job!

    Thanks!
Now it's time for a helmet. I'm a bit scared, but first lines looks cool.
We'll see where it will go.

Very nice!!! I tried and tried, I couldn’t ever get it. Maybe one or 2 lines look good. I’d be happy with that on a helmet

@barto I like the panel, and the helmet is starting to look good too. And if you dont get it right you can sand and basecoat again, its only paint.

Not bad at all! Moreover, very cool flame job! Cool for the colour of the fire and for the AB technique. Well done!

Very nice Man. Fire is really tough to get right, I’ve been trying on and off and it’s getting there, but it’s definitely a tough one. This is looking great though.

I do not even consider sanding, there is too much of graphics under the tape. Removing the tape is always exciting, but this is when all mistakes reveal.
    But it's just a helmet:)

That's how it will look. I like the fire more than main graphic.

It's good work! Show it after the clearcoating.

I would add some transparent orange (very diluted orange, almost tinted thinner) to the yellow parts of the snake, as I understand your yellow is the reflection of the fire, that was your concept maybe. You'd have more contrasting and attractive colours. But I'd try the effect on some test piece replicating the part of the snake done with the same paints as on the helmet, then if I'd like it, I'd do it to the actual work. Some thoughts aloud.

I wanted to add more orange to the snake (or even magenta) to pop the color contrast up, but the "customer" was inexorable.
