I picked up some of the Createx Quicksilver Chrome, and Gold Plate paints to try. I am pretty dang impressed with these two right off the bat. Now, I have not tried to replicate a show chrome (yet), but as far as laying down a decent looking metallic coat, I am happy.
Both are supposed to be applied over a high gloss surface. I did use Auto-air gloss black, but over the Stynylrez primer coat on my resin piece, I would have called it more of a semi-gloss. It looked almost exactly like nice leather. This was for the Quicksilver Chrome. The Gold is supposed to be shot over a glosss white, but I applied it right over the white Stynylrez primer, which is quite satin or flat in appearance. I sprayed both metallic colors through a.2 nozzle (HP-B) straight from the bottle without any kind of issue.
I will try some better prep work, and glossier base coats - but, will say if anyone is looking for nice metallic paint, you may consider these. These are a pair of my desk top airbrush stands that I am making for a large display I am working on assembling -
