I don’t want to threadjack Zakod’s post, so I can PM the link. But Pog have you seen Fred’s video on paining a Tiger? He records real time and it does give a good idea of how long he takes scratching Fur.

Yes Simon, I were following his recorded tutorials, not only the tiger but the lynx and the portraits too ...
This is the way I’m adopting- the scratches ;)
    Thank you Simon ;)
I’m missing Fred’s work , he’s struggling some arm sore issues, so as far as I’m up to date, he’s forced to have a break from painting at the moment ... ;(

Ok cool. I sent them in a PM just in case you hadn’t seen them.
Yes, I understand Fred is taking a break too. I hope he is getting better.

Some more black on the left side and more erasing and scratching. Using a softer eraser for the softer highlights/areas and a dowel and scapel for the sharper looking highlights. Resized_20180810_214512_7039.jpeg Resized_20180810_215242_6428.jpeg

A bit more orange, sepia and black to create a bit more depth with some distant large 50% dots for the legs.
Viridean, yellow, sepia and a very small touch or cerulean blue for the background colours. Nice and eash with the background. Dont want any sharp vontrast at all. Light blends.
All colours used individually straight out of the bottle and just add a touch of reducer. I have not mixed any colours into the colour cup. 20180810_231013.jpeg

    Very nice !!!!!!!
You know I loved it since your first strokes, don’t you ;)
Very well done little cute creature ;)
I’m happy to notice you haven’t been mixing colours in the cup - I don’t, but I were worry if it’s right or wrong ...
Knowing it’s two of us at least,it’s lifting me up and encouraging to do what I do ;)
    Well done Zackod!

Thanks mate. Still a bit to go yet, but its getting there. I said a little white lie. Sometimes i use the residue left in the airbrush and add some colour to it to tint it ;)

    Lol !!!
I do the same thing !!!
I’m not emptying the cup if I got something still there, but adding few drops of my preference, lol ;)
If I got dark brown for example, and next I’m planning to do some lighter strokes, I do put some drops of lighter brown colour to mix it, or just a drop of white ...
But it’s not preparing and mixing colours to match the reference values, is it?
It’s just adding some bits to carry on painting...
Thanks for mentioning, but I do the same thing ;)
    Cheers ;)
    The spider is amazing !

Same her. I have not used any white at all so far on this piece. All transparents. I will probably use some tinted white to create the out of focus white hairs and some of the blurred out rear part of the spider. But very little.
