Hello, thank you for allowing me in to your forum.

My name is Gordon and I have many hobbies, but am mainly a woodworker in my spare time. I'd like to learn how to airbrush so that I can enhance my woodworking.

I'm mostly a 'lurker' but may ask questions once in a while if I can't find an answer using the search tools.

I'm really interested in tutorials, so will be following what you great folks have here with interest.

Welcome Gordon! Glad to have you as part of our community. You’re on the right track with the search feature but questions are always welcome. Don’t forget to take pictures especially if something hasn’t worked out. You’d be amazed how quickly a mystery issue can be solved with a photo of the problem. Hope you enjoy your time here.

Thank you. Right now my problem is finding a balance between PSI and paint viscosity. I'm getting a lot of 'spiderweb' splatter. :( Mostly at exactly the wrong time. sigh.

All part of the learning curve, either paints too thin or air is too high and then it could be what surface your painting on.

That’s what I’ve read. Now I just have to experiment to get it right.

I still have that battle lol. But I have gotten better at adjusting whatever I need to. It’s strange, but if you stick with it you suddenly find yourself making adjustments without thinking about it. It does take an almost stubborn attitude to begin with, or at least it did with me.

Thank you so much. I’ve always enjoyed being creative but I draw like a three year old. I find being able to use stencils which I can design on the computer and cut with my plotter or wood with my CNC I can be way more creative.

Now comes the newest part, being ‘stubborn- enough to keep learning how to airbrush and get the result I can see in my head.

Getting ideas from brain to paper is the hard part. Often the original idea will change as the painting proceeds, and that’s fine too:)

spidering is caused by either to much psi, paint to thin or you’re moving to slow while pulling the trigger to far back. It all take patience and time

Man wish I was on Vancouver Island after the weather we had last week. (-40' for a week) damned cold.
