    Hi everyone,

My names Kev. I'm married with 3 kids.

I've just got into airbrushing, day 1 week 1 lol. I'm currently just running the cheapest gear to start. That being a Veda 186 (i think) dual action brush and an ebay 3l compressor.

To be fair the Veda airbrush is pretty good. The compressor is ok but noisy, but will eventually upgrade. (Thanks for the help Mr.Micron)

I don't really have a particular thing i like to paint, thats the beauty of the airbrush, to get the very basics doesn't take too long and looks half decent. So alot of things are possible if you put the effort in.

Just practicing dots, lines and shading. Gotta say fine lines are a biatch! Just can't seem to get consistent paint at the moment.

Anyway that's enough of me boring you all . L8rs t8rs

    Welcome from Australia Kev.
Loads of valuable info to be had around here, use the search function but if you can’t find an answer by all means post away and ask.
We’ve managed to save many newbies many $$ /heartache just by offering alternatives to ‘kits’

What led you to an airbrush? Do you paint/draw and this seemed like a good extension or do you just think ‘ why not’ lol

Don’t be worried about posting up your first attempts, you’ll get some good feedback on how to enhance and suggestions on what to avoid.
We all remember being beginners and like to help

    Welcome home Kev.
As far as your airbrush it is just fine to start out and learn on . Yes a lot of us on here suffer from ACD Airbrush collecting disorder But that is mainly due to being in the game for a while now. If you can find one or something close to it on your side of the pond look for something like a california air or silent aire that runs off something that looks like a fridge compressor , They are super silent.
Fine line comes with practice and learning the control on dots and daggers. Granted some airbrushes with .15,.18 or .20 nozzles makes it easier to do but you can do fine lines with a .35 or .5 as well.
Now when you find your self totally hooked on airbrushing and want a real work horse that is the Iwata Eclipse CS (gravity feed)or BCS(siphon feed) or SBS (side feed) depending on you preference .

Welcome from the South East, glad to have you aboard. The Airbrush Tutor YouTube page has some great beginner videos with some good exercises when you want a break from Dots and Lines. Feel free to ask questions when they come up and enjoy it Matey.

Welcome to the forum Kev, fine lines are all down to a lot of practice, they will come eventually, just keep practicing the dots and lines. Grab a cheap colouring book from poundland and practice colouring the pages in. This ill help your shading and trigger skills. The Veda are one of the better chinese airbrushes so you will be ok for a while but you will probably find yourself wanting to upgrade at some point.

Thanks for the kind welcome guys .

What drew me to airbrushing is the fact you don't need to be able to draw really well - at least not straight away. My drawing isn't great but i'm working on it.

In addition Airbrushing isn't elitist as many other forms of art, it really doesn't matter how you get your initial drawing down. It's all about the end result!

    Mr.Micron
I've been looking at Bambi silent compressors, but they're way outta my price range at the moment. So i figured a louder shop style compressor with a much larger tank would fit better as it won't be working anywhere near its capacity.

Tbh i did wonder if the needle was to big (a workman always blames his tools ) i'm using a .2 at the mo' but have a .3 and .5 in my arsenal.

I'll try to get something up soon.

    Thanks again fellas.

Welcome to the forum from China! I started off myself with a cheap Chinese airbrush, which is great as an entry point ... yet a better quality one will save you lots of time and trouble once you got past the honeymoon period.

This is brilliant. I have a lot of the adult coloring books lying around that my GF and I used to dabble in.
