So for a recap, mix 40% 4030 with 10% 4012 then add 50% candy(I take you can tweek this to make it more/less trans). Gotta bottle going a try it.
I forgot all about the paint freeze having lived in the subtropics for many years now.
No....4030 first, add candy.... then reduce
I remember in one of the vids that Fraser recommends you create the slurry first.. 4012/4030 and let that melt in for up to 10 min.
Ok, I see that is what Createx is saying is proper procedure.
But for meeeeeeeee.. I wanna know the slurry isn't gonna go bad before adding any liquid gold..aka candy.
Also, does anyone feel the 4030 tends to add texture to dried candy layers? Kinda ends up in a 400-600 grit sand paper finish.
So I was reminded by another thread to check my in stock 4030.. It has ALL went bad since I updated this thread.. well except the new stuff they sent me. And I never noticed just how much clearer the new 4030 is than the old 4030. I think they might have realized it's a unstable product and have changed formulas. I think they must have had issues with it, but have improved the mix.
When it was first released it was call “Intercoat” and was supposed to be used with Candy20 to prevent one layer bleeding into another. It didn’t work, so it was renamed “Balancing Clear” and sold as a mix additive as we know it now.
The newest bottle I have is very different to the first one I got, so hopefully they have now figured out the formula.

I think I saw video talking about how it started as an inter coat but realized it helped with flow, etc.
I’m curious as to why you suspect a formula change?
It’s purely speculation on my part and wasn’t meant to sound like a statement of fact, sorry if it did. But the older bottle I had was a different colour and so much thicker than the newer ones. It had Intercoat Clear on the bottle and I think the newer ones have Balancing Clear. Obviously the label has nothing to do with the formula, but I think I remember hearing something about a tweak to the formula on the Coast Airbrush live at 5, but I can’t say for sure..

Well when one bottle is milky white and the newest stuff is almost clear.. I would say there was a change.
