Is it necessary to change needle size by nozzle?

Well, actually there are quite a few brushes that do use one needle for multiple size nozzles. They may even sell replacement parts with different stock numbers, but the actual needles are the same ;). Sometimes the different numbers may be due to the length, more then the needle taper.

With that being said, it does not mean that every needle will work well in every nozzle. Having many to fool with, I frequently mix and match looking for performance gains, but rarely do find an odd-ball needle/nozzle combo that performs better than the needle that was intended to use with the nozzle it was matched with.
