Hey peeps, some of you may already have one of these Iwata mats to work on your airbrushes

BUT if you haven't and can't afford or in my case refuse to pay the price of the Iwata mat then here is an affordable alternative.

It's just a silicone work mat made for soldering or working on electronics, they are heat and solvent resistant and pretty cheap. I used to use one when I was working at Carphone Warehouse and I had to do any soldering or repairs.

    OR

If you want a nice grey one

If anyone is interested I'm sure you will find these on your local ebay what ever country you are in.

Totally forgot about them until now but i'm about to work on my airbrush and thought I could do with one of those mats so I don't lose any parts and thought I would share with my airbrush family.

I hope someone finds this helpful.

    Cool!
I know @JackEb had mentioned using a silicone baking sheet w raised edges.
The little parts trays in these are cool though.

I drop small screws/parts all the time, this would save me crawling on the floor feeling the carpet for the nozzle I just dropped lol.. There are some really snazzy mats with little lidded compartments but you don't need one that fancy. As long as it stops your parts falling off the table or bouncing too far then that's fine for me

nice find :) I still use a cheaper solution : an old towel but if I stumble on a silicone mat I will have a look at it to see if I will replace my old towel for one

Yeh I looked for baking sheets but couldn't find one that was cheap. Compared to the ones I found on ebay.

I got lucky and somebody got me the Iwata one for Xmas. But to be honest I’ve hardly used it, I know what it cost and didn’t want to get it covered in paint. I do use it when doing a break down and soak, but I might grab one of your EBay specials Lee, I could actually use that for cleaning then LOL.

nice find @jord001 ! there are so many things out there that can be used for things other than their original purpose.

Yes @Robbyrockett2 I did find a baking tray with raised edges, works a treat. here in Australia both mats are a similare price.
