Wow! My dad used to have one. He was an avid gardener with a green thumb. His bonsai looked really cool. Although I'd like to think I could raise one myself, I know I have "fertilizer fingers" where everything I touch turns to :poo: ( the opposite of the Midas touch) when it comes to live plants.
That might make for an interesting subject of another painting project.

    That's beautiful
I had one for a bit, but low and behold she didn't last that long. I'll be honest it was my fault. I had always wanted to get another though.
    Thanks for sharing

The one i posted is in a pasta colander while it was growing. It gives it good drainage when watered. This year its time for a bonsai pot. That will be done next week.

Your Bonsai looks great, I had one once, many years ago, and I managed to kill it. I think i didnt water it enough. So i now have succulents and cactus, they can stand waterless periods.

I just have this little bonsai, it's a desert rose I've managed to keep alive for a couple years. I also found pineapples are pretty easy, just lob the top off and put it in some soil, takes a couple years to fruit, then I get out my finest rum:D

LadyCharlie this one will be right up you alley..lol. Ive been trimming these and repotting them. I have about 50 im taking to a local street vending night to sell them. This one was trimmed and styled today. It has alot of filling in to do this summer but this one should be ready for a bonsai show in a couple of years.

COOL,, I was looking at a how to(you tube) about bonsai trees couple of days ago, thought I would give it a go,, but what I understood it's to long gone in the springtime right now to start shaping a tree ,, better wait to the fall,,, and I got to find a suitable tree too,,
How many years does it take to get a nice tree,,, and if you have a tree with leafs do you trim the leafs too somehow ,, I mean you can't have a small tree and Hugh leafs,, as you can see I don't know much about bonsai trees but keen to learn .
    great looking trees though

You trim back to to leafs. That will make dormant buds pop out and leaves will be smaller.
