This is a close section of the tiger the piece is a landscape orientation and the cloud work will contain very little of the strong blue you see now, hopefully will all come together. The reference is just the tiger, I am using artistic license and improvising the background and also completely changing the colour and depth of the tiger to how I want it which is very different to the reference

Quick update, still a way to go but just showing how I've added some dark 'white' tones that give much more depth hopefully, I'm using my imagination for the bulk of this as the original reference didn't fit to how I saw the image in my head so a lot of artistic license going on. Hope you don't mind the update guys

This piece is a tribute to the original and incredible Ronin piece by Eddy Wouters, he is a genuinely lovely guy and was happy for me to take inspiration although I can only dream of ever getting to close to his ability. The piece is called '' storm is coming' and is kind of a chapter in Ronin's journey (if you don't know the back story to the original piece it's definitely worth a read)

Nobody minds an update Andy, we thrive on them, it's cool to see projects build:thumbsup:

A particularly cool one for me being tiggers are my favourite animal, I love all cats but these are my favourite, I've done a few myself and had a few as gifts, never get sick of them:)

I remember once ago I saw a website of some artist. At first look I went amazed with what I saw,at the second thought I was confused with the arts matching perfectly the references...
Then the next step was to study how much they’re matching.
    Well,I didn’t like what I had discovered.
To me it was like taking scans of the references and making 100% the same detailed arts...
If the single hair were curved left, on the painting were curved left.., etc etc ;)
    Lol ;)
By telling this story, I’d like to show how much I’m appreciate personal creativity Andy ;)
You’re so much talented, and you will make this art with a very personal touch to it ;)
Great progress so far, beautiful colours already.

Very kind words my friend. Thank you. I love what the airbrush can help you achieve in terms of texture and the creation of 'life'. There are things that just aren't possible using other techniques. It's a wonderful tool. I have an obsession with the technical aspect of realism and recreating something that tricks the mind almost. I also feel it's important for me to be able to create and paint an image that looks real but doesn't exist in real life. This piece is not photo realistic by any means but leans towards realism I would say but in terms of the reference used (it's easy to find) there is a huge difference from what I'm painting to what is on the reference. I'm glad you like the piece, I'll share more when I'm done but don't have time over the next few days so maybe next week before I make real progress again. I think everyone approaches things differently and I'm amazed at the talent if many airbrush artists out there. As long as we all enjoy what we do and keep creating and supporting each other then all is good. The world would be very dull without art in its many forms

At the very beginning of my arts, I was certain that photocopy art alike is what it’s called talent.
Actually I were heading (still do) to make my arts as realistic as possible.
Later on I just find out, that even though I’m heading that direction - I’m not photocopying?
I’m kind off doing it following the reference, but my way... At first I thought I’m crap artist, because my arts are differ from the original references, but someone has told me it’s the good thing actually.
Probably in my mind I have still opinion, that the real arts are photocopies alike, this causing me to be too much self critical ;)
Anyway I’ve learnt that I’m painting using some senses of instinct?
I never know what I’m doing, I’m just picking up some colours, that I think are ok, and using them...
    I do agree Andrew.
The artist is free to choose which way he prefers make his art.
All depends what he can see into the subject, what he likes to focus on.
At the end of the day it’s an art not a digital picture ;)
The artist is choosing, how much close shall his art match the reference ;) isn’t it ;)
    Andrew ... ;)
It seems we’ve got couple of WIP tigers around, Lol ;)

You know Malky, the tigers are amazing indeed, but my very personal pick was always lion ;)
I don’t appreciate few things regarding the males, but at the end of the day - they’re powerful and great looking cats ;)
I’ve got one awaiting in the queue ;)
    Lol ;)

Cheers buddy. Looking forward to doing a portrait next. Sticking to realism type work for airbrush and keeping my contemporary art as a separate entity
