That's almost just the thing I use for treating the needle. It only looks not like the pen and made of steel, this one is plated aluminum. Can be bought at the modelers' shops. I have no idea how it's called though But I'm confident you find it online in a few minutes.

But again, what about the tape?

Take a look at tungsten grinders. lots of designs but big money.
