Hi my name is JVart. It’s been a long road to this forum. I first started airbrushing in 2006. My self and two others started the program in a federal prison in Phoenix Arizona. None of us new anything really about airbrushing but we’re all eager to learn. It was when shows like American Chopper were really popular and I was looking for something positive to do with my time. With the idea that if I got good I could persue it when I went home. Iv owned many airbrushes over the year (Peak, Devilbiss DAGR, Precision air) Now that I’m home iv set myself up with a Maxx Jet compressor and a set of Iwata. A CMC+ and a Hi-line. For projects at home I use created wicked and illustration paints. I like to paint on canvas for fine art. And am waiting for delivery of a Artograph 150 to assist me. Still trying to figure out all of this technology. When I came home 2 1/2 months ago I went out trying to find shops in my area that would give me a shot to break into painting bikes. Iv found two that are willing to work with me and am currently painting my first bike. Harley Bagger with stretched fenders and bags. In thee days I put 108 skulls on front fender, tank, fairing, side covers, and bags. It’s now cleared to protect the artwork. Tomarrow iv got to start laying the candy cobalt blue. Some grafix and it’s done. Thanks for listening to my ramblings . Respectfully JVart

Welcome from the U.K. Jay. We all have our stories of how we got started airbrushing and although they often start in very different places, taking airbrushing or art as a form of therapy is pretty common. Congrats on finding some places to work with you. Be sure to upload some photos if you’d care to share your work with us.

108 skulls! I'm pretty poor at getting *one* to look right... you'll have to post a photo of the finished work.

Anyway, welcome to the forum from the UK.

Thanks Crazyvet. The whole world with this technology is now open to me and I’m jumping off into it trying my hand at painting bikes right off. Used to get all of my tips and info from Airbrush Action mag. Now I can get advice from the forum and devour YouTube videos.

Bottom half of bike covered in skulls getting House of Kolor candy cobalt blue tomarrow over top. Some grafix lines some with rivets and some Willie G skulls. Top of bike is pearl white but trying to convince owner to change to a darker metallic gray. Grafix would be black, white and silver. Deadline the 17th.

    Welcome from Australia JV,
It sounds as if you have landed yourself in a helpful shop who is willing to guide you, congrats. Not many will take a chance on such a newbie.

As you've discovered we have a diverse bunch of people here, from all around the globe so there is usually someone around if you have a question you cant find an answer to. Because we all like to experiment you'll find all sorts of suggestions on how to acheive an outcome, some suggestions may work for you, others may not, but thats all part of the learning curve.

We enjoy a giggle or two mixed with the sound knowledge that has made this forum the great place it is. Ego's are parked at the door and our happy hats are put on our heads, we also have matching 'cuddle myself' jackets on your right if you feel you need one lol

Welcome....Ive really been curious about the peak brushes...in particular the c-3. Keep putting off getting one to play with.
Anxious to see your pics too... I have a feeling your work may already be spectacular..... always things to learn though. Great place to do so here.

Robby thanks for your post. My first airbrush was a peak c3. Loved it really it’s just a rebadged Richpen. Great lines and smooth fades and parts were cheap. Just got infatuated with the Precision air I got next because it had a Mac valve. But really the Peak was a better gun.

I kinda figured they were another house brand of rich, like gsi, tamiya, iwata, richpen...etc.
Just still curious if its really just an eclipse with a bit longer nose like it appears to be.
Never looked at precision air.... but i love my gsi ps-270 which has the mac as well....i like built in ones. Trend here seems to be towards inline but idk i like the built in.

The Peak c3 is .30 mm and th eclipse is .35. But the Peak has a thread in nozzle we’re the Eclipse floats. Iv used both and the Peak pulled better lines. Now in got a Iwata Hi line .30 and the New micron CMC plus both with Mac valves and love both.
