Hi i just want to know can anyone tell me about when painting on a leather jacket do i have to completely remove the black dye if thats what it is? it is a very complex design over a large area so from what i gather online you have to remove this or partially remove it im not sure... Ive tried a tester spot and it takes a long time to take it all off so don't want to have to do this to the whole jacket...im just worried about adhesion. i had peeling problems before but turned out the createx illustration is too soft for leather jackets and doesn't harden as much as the standard or wicked version. thanks

I would degrease it well first.
And then or a layer of UVLS (4050) Or some UVLS mix in the first coat of paint.
You can also use the UVLS as a finishing layer.
(The new opaque wicked already has the UVLS binder in it)
Another option is the Angelus Leather Paint.

There is a line of paints called AlphaFlex by Alpha6 Corp. The produce a really great product for painting leather here is a link to someone testing the airbrush formulation of the paint on leather including taping
