    Hi everybody,
I painted this snake eye and cause I've taken some pics of it decided to post it here...

I originally printed 1 reference and 1 copy to lay out the guide lines. Used my iwata Hi-line HP-CH and the High Performance HP-BR with wicked colors on aluminum panel.

Next started to cover the guide lines with 4:2:2 (sepia-detail black-reducer) while erasing some highlights at the same time.

    5 pro final.jpg

    3 pro final.jpg

3-4 layers of paint and erasing-scratching in between them. For the eye I only used the fiber pen and plus the electric eraser for every other texture. It wasn't so difficult as I thought cause I'd correct every mistake I made with the paint.

Brite transparent yellow plus a little bit of transparent ultramarine blue is used for the eye and once again started his skin with light brown making sure I keep his highlights.

    pro pro final.jpg

Moved to dark brown and continuing erasing some highlights softer this time. I've tried to set the backside of the snake out of focus, keep the eye area in focus and slightly out of focus the front side of the eye.

    pro final.jpg

Added some highlight hitting his eye and called it done! I've noticed then that the course of light isn't compatible with all the highlights on his head but what the heCk, still managed to make progress in airbrushing and certaintly learned a few extra things!

    Thank you and enjoy!
    Vives!

@Dimitris Question for you? On the finished picture is the highlight from a flash on the camara / phone or did you paint it /erase it in?
as I think that was the one thing missing from the one above it. (makes the eye look round and not flat)

Hi @basepaint , it's painted, although it looks like a reflection from a camera. Nice observation!

Great work Dimitris. Nice SBS too. I think that turned out great and any piece you learn something from is even better.

Yeah, I'm an idiot, lol. For some reason I was thinking it referred to the type of paint, it was early, and I apologize for being so slow on the uptake on that one!

Very nice job Dimitris, loads of fiddly bits and it all came together great
What size is this one ?

@Justin Sane, don’t feel bad, we have a lot of acronyms around here, never be afraid to ask if you’re not sure. We have newbies coming in all the time so the more places they can find a definition the better.
One that can cause confusion is ‘OAF’ ... Orange Airbrush Forum :)

Thanks @JackEb , although it's a post from 2017. Now that I'm looking at it I can clearly see the progress I've made so far, that's because I've painted something similar recently and can spot all the improvements!

I like how we don't see the improvements until we actually do the same or similar painting again, Its one of the reasons I push for people to date their paintings and file it and then revisit it 12 months later :)

I'll post this artwork here so the beginners can see what practise do, this one was painted about a year later...It's not the same as the above but you can see the progress
