Spray gun prices

Similar to my post on this thread about oil lubricated compressors, I have to scratch my head about listed prices for small spray guns made by airbrush OEMs like Iwata versus other good spray gun brands used in the automotive industry. Many of these guns are very high quality and cost less than 1/4 the price asked for, say an Iwata W-400 or similar. Does anybody know what justifies Iwata or other airbrush OEMs to charge more for their products or is it just for a name, like paying big bucks for a pair of basketball shoes because they have a Nike swoosh on them?

I agree that some brands are very expensive but they are of good quality. I have some cheap spray guns which work ok, I have some branded DeVilbiss SRi Pro's which spray much much better. Mostly with the cheaper sprayguns they have poor quality parts which will fail more often. The branded guns are usually better over all.
Can I say that they warrant the massive cost difference? No, personally I think they are over priced but generally they will last you a lifetime. I brought my branded guns second hand but hardly used at a fraction of the price. There are other options that cost much less.
