where is the best place to get high definition stencils? or how to make them using equiment?
I like the Gerald Mendez texture fx stencils by Artool a lot. Blair school of Realism sells really good stencils for doing portraits.
"High definition" stencils are a load of bull. Learn to paint properly.
Stencils are tools, They do not make magic happen! they are to be used to very lightly lay in a design or desired effect so you can build the painting free hand.
Even the multi-layered stencil by AirSick needs a lot more free handing after using them to make it look good.
Not really sure what you mean about being HD due to most stencil are designed in a cad/cam program.
HD stencils are almost like silkscreening. But instead of spreading the ink over the openings, you spray it in.
It's all from that thread I linked at top.
I do agree with Andre about learning to paint properly. Especially me, cause I suck at it... But I see hd stencils as a high speed production option. Let's say you need to spray 10 cars or 20 from some business owner in to the same design. HD stencils would be here great tool IMHO and also very fast one.
I look at this from a different angle. You can make 20 same pieces fast.Or 50, whatever. It's not about unique design, but about productivity and speed. The question here would be if this is then art. I think not ''so much''. Still somebody needed to design this in photoshop, manga... - that's art by itself, but spraying that color can't be compared to free hand airbrushing. But I do see pros of hd stencils and bunch of possibilities where they can be used.
Oh like Mike learn does for the 100 dollar bills. But he just uses old silkscreens.
I'm pretty decent with a pencil and I have a lot of art work in pencil I was interested in transfer over some of my pencil art work to airbrush work. the airbrush is certainly not a pencil for me. Its going to take some time
For your purpose print it out on a piece of paper and get handy with an x-acto blade.
