    Airbrush: Iwata HP-C
    Size: 30"x40"
    Substrate: Primed canvas
Paints: Createx textile and Wicked paints

Here are work in progress images of my newest completed painting. This painting is acrylic on canvas and completely freehand, no stencils. These are only images. Anyone interested in reading the text, you can visit my website for the copy that goes with the text at http://twinbrotherfineart.com/2014-william-leung-fine-art/a-special-bond/.

    * This is all freehand work, no stencils. The process involves going back and forth with blacks, whites, and greys. I start out with loose airbrush work and then going in with more detail later in the process.

Good job! Since you're not using any stencils, how do you protect from overspray?

I use an Iwata HP-C so overspray is kept to a minimum. Any overspray is covered by going back over the overspray with another color. Painting on canvas is more fine art and the process is very different from illustration work on paper. My technique is similar to that of a regular brush, except I'm using air.

Thanks, interesting! I also noticed that the painting is quite large which explains a bit why you can work without stencils.
    Anyway, nice job!

You can also paint quite small without stencils Matwes and still control overspray easy enough. Great work Twin, came out awesome and like any good artwork should, tells a great story..Wd.

Ive watched your vids, i really need to work on my skills with my hands as shields. That said i agree i never use stencils even on pretty small stuff. My biggest weakness i think is forgetting shields.

I use opaques and transparents. Being this is black and white, it's pretty much opaque everything. However, if I want to use the paint as a transparent, I thin it down a lot. Transparent colors come into play more when painting in color. It is much more different than painting in black and white only. My current painting is quite challenging. Anyone interested can see the progress here:
