Hey all, I recently got my first airbrush about 3 months ago. A paasche vl. Its a nice AB, yesterday I was in hobby lobby and decided to pick up the iwata hp-cs with 40% off coupon. Havent had a chance yet to try it out, but feels good in the hand. Got the Paasche to paint rc bodies and heli canopies which are the other hobbies my wife says I've spent waaay too much money on. I always ask for forgiveness not permission, then go out and play. Lol. Anyway I'm liking the airbrush more than my other hobbies. I suspect I'll be on here daily.

I've got an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS as well. You'll like it. Everyone says it's a good workhorse AB. What paints are you using?

I have a few Createx colors, but a few more of the Wicked colors. They were simple to get at Hobby Lobby which is where my wife frequents. So I just tag along, and say "since I'm here, I might as well get some more paint" . I need find somewhere else locally or maybe just order on the web, some W500/4012 high performance reducer. Hobby Lobby only sells 2oz. bottles for 5.00, wow 2.50 per oz. I chose the water based because they had some there and for easy clean up. Can you recomend something else? Maybe almost as easy to clean up. Paint store close to where I do a lot of work sells House of Color. I've seen that mentioned quite a bit. I want to learn to do flames. Hot rod style and true fire. I've painted a couple bodies so far but no fading or anything fancy just opauqe colors.

Stick with the wicked, reduce like 1 paint:4-5 reducer, and you'll be happy. The Createx is thick, can be thinned with water, and is just an outdated product in my mind.

I agree with @wmlepage, stick with the wicked detail or even the illustration range, they're water based and easier for us home bodies to use (next to no fumes - easier clean up etc.)
Stick to one brand rather than chop and change and it will be easier to 'dial in' the right reductions and air pressures. The HP reducer is great, buy a big bottle because you'll use 5-10x more of it than paint !
    And welcome aboard

    Welcome from Australia, Tarpman!
The addiction has spread far and wide, and has no sign of stopping.
I'm also the proud owner/user of the HP_CS from Iwata.
IMHO, one of the greatest workhorse airbrushes ever made.
You won't regret ever bying it.

I live in central California, about 6 hours from there, if im driving, 8.5 since I need to give my back a break and for bathroom stops. Lol. I think I'll be odordering from them. I've only painted 3 rc bodies so far and only one with AB. The other 2 were with rattle can rc paint, but with a couple of colors. Turned out good. I really want to learn the true fire thing. The body I did with the AB was for my son's SCT, just 3 colors with sharp lines. Mostly to practice with air presure and reducing the paint. Only painted 1 heli canopy with florescent orange, quick job so I could see the damm thing, hopefully before it got away from me. As I get more comfortable with it I'll do some more. We have a couple of rc scale crawlers with the 1981 to 1983 toyota pickup body and a fj40 cruiser body I'll be working on. Very difficult to find time, with work and family life.
