    Hi all....
I haven't been painting much this year yet. I decided to start something to keep me busy. My plans for this is to sell it when done to make some money to pay for some more supplies.

I was given this 24 inch old circular saw blade. When I got it, it was rusty. I sanded both sides down and used rust converter to give me a good base to prime. I painted the back black using tremclad and painted the front white using Rustoleum. I then clear coated the white side, knowing I will be scratching and erasing when it comes to the wolves....
Here is the reference, that I hope I will come close to...

    The saw blade

Here is the reference, enlarged to use as masks.
    IMG_4785 (2).JPG
I cut out the wolves and positioned on the blade to keep it clean while I do the background. I will use the background cut out to mask the background when complete....
    IMG_4790 (2).JPG IMG_4788 (2).JPG
I am going to start the background with the sky and move down, which is also the areas that are closer....
Starting the sky and finished ....I suck at clouds....I might redo them...I will decide after the background is done....I will come back and add more detail where needed when the whole thing is done...
    IMG_4793 (2).JPG IMG_4798 (2).JPG
I then started the trees on the right side, using a light green. I then used a darker green and paynes grey for shadows.
    IMG_4799 (2).JPG IMG_4800 (2).JPG IMG_4801 (2).JPG
    Continued....

Here is the left side trees when done...
    IMG_4808 (2).JPG
The tree line on the left side
    IMG_4810 (2).JPG
The water....using a blue, just a bit darker than the sky, then added a drop of red to darken the upper area and white for the horizontal lines over that
    IMG_4814 (2).JPG IMG_4817 (2).JPG
I then started the snow area in the foreground to that. I back masked the water to keep it clean
    IMG_4822 (2).JPG
I used an opaque green mix for the bushes..and used some paynes grey for some shadows
    IMG_4826 (2).JPG IMG_4830 (2).JPG
Here is where I am now. My next step is to do the snow and vegetation more into the foreground...
    IMG_4830 (3).JPG

    It is slowly getting there.....

    Woof...oops, I mean wolf...lol
Before removing the wolf block mask, I laid the back ground mask back on the blade. This puts the mask for the back ground in an exact position. Then i removed it to start the wolves. I also cut the foreground wolf and just removed the one that is standing. I am going to do the two wolves separately...If that makes sense....
I am starting with the head, using paynes grey and erasing it back to get the general shapes and direction of the fur...
    IMG_4855 (2).JPG IMG_4856 (2).JPG IMG_4857 (2).JPG
    Now the fun starts....

That’s a great start on the wolf Tony! Looking good. Is that the Wicked Payne’s or the Illustration?

It is Wicked paynes grey, reduced heavily with 4011. It allows for slower drying as it is more of a higher temp. reducer

I’m really wanting to try some 4011 Reducer. The European distributor has been out of stock for a while. Hopefully it’ll be available soon. I’ve found a few places selling the old bottles on EBay and such, but really want some new stock.
Thanks for the info Tony, the piece is looking great.

    Thanx...
I like the 4011 just for the reason that when it is not hot out, it gives me more time for scratching and erasing. I find using the 4012 the paint sets and hardens a lot faster.
