Hi.
I'm Shelly from Staffordshire UK.
I am an artist with a brand new airbrush.

I trained as an illustrator in order to be a better pyrography artist but I love working in lots of media. I've been sculpting over the last year (taking lessons from my dad) and really needed an airbrush to paint my figures/things.

Have been following the tutorials and can't wait till I'm at least passable

I've got a funny little compressor AS18B and a Badger Velocity airbrush with primer and minitaire paints. Though I'm using washable ink for practice.

I'm currently looking at making art with the airbrush as practice for painting the models but my other half calls it procrastination ;)

Joined recently but only just had the time to stop and get joining in. Hoping to learn much and have enjoyed mooching through the forums picking up tips and seeing great artwork.

Welcome to the group! I have not been here long myself, but the people here are great.
I hope you get the knowledge and experience you are looking for.

Welcome from Australia Shelley,
we start airbrushing for a variety of reason, some have zero art background like me but want to expand their hobby and got drawn to the art side of it, others like yourself are expanding their current art hobby. What ever the reason, the airbrush is different to any hairy brush you've ever used, but embrace the learning curve and enjoy. You'll find there are modellers here, as well as every other use for an airbrush that you can think of.

Have fun looking though the forums and if you cant find what you need then just ask ..... there's generally someone around that can at least guide you if not give you some first hand knowledge.

Thank you JackEb. You're not wrong about the brush. That said I've been wanting to airbrush for years. I always loved the album art of Roger Dean and now I've got one for other reasons I despair of ever getting a decent line. It's a learning curve like any new tool ando I'm sure I'll have questions.
Thank you

Hi Shelly, welcome aboard from another brit, good to have another uk girl here. There's a couple of us floating about.:D

You've come to the right place, lots of good eggs here, happy to help, so don't be shy about showing any pics or asking questions.

My first bit of advice is something that happens to everyone starting out. If you are struggling to get good paint flow, or get consistent lines etc, 95% of the time it is due to a dirty nozzle, so give it a clean, then when you think its clean, clean again. Its like my mantra lol.

Also I had a quick look at your compressor. The discription said something like 'mostly doesn't pulse'. Pulsing is an issue, inconsistant air means inconsistant paint. With all the stuff you're into and can use the airbrush for, I think its worth investing in something with a bigger tank, and may also make it easier for you to learn.

Post some pics of your work, its always cool to see what people are into :)

Hi, Shellinton, welcom from Dubuque Ia. you are in good hands. I'm a newbie myself. But there are a bunch of grate people here. Just have fun looking around.

Thanks Johnny, it's a fascinating place

Hi Squishy and thank you.
I had a problem when I got started, with the acrylic drying, so switched to ink as it washes off more easily which is great for practice.

I was given my compressor a few years ago, I was fully expecting to replace it soon but I thought it best find out more info before doing so. I'll be looking at the threads and then probably asking questions. Lots of questions lol.

Mostly my work has been pyrography over the years, some pen & ink and dabbling in clay. Family health means I've got a little time to play before I get back to it as a proper job again. But there's masses of info/videos and such I'm having to be firm with myself. I'm practicing again today dots and lines but I will post something soon.
Thanks
