Rocky Slide Grain attempt

Having a crack at painting film grain from movie slides, I mean, why not! I turned down the pressure on the compressor to create a collage of dots for the background, then using the same technique started mapping out the face. Using the Blair skin5 stencil for sharper irregular patterns on top, I will go over and over this till I feel it’s right.

I’m only guessing my way through, gone too dark in places as usual! Will work on that, hense why lots of blue shifted dots to tint

Some more work, it’s interesting how the accumulation of dots in different colours especially yellow can give the effect I’m looking for, it’s getting there, and I’m happy but have a lot of little subtleties to do so I feel that a good 10ths left

I know all about going to dark in spots. It is for sure turning out great. So you are building this up with only small dots, like stippling art with ink?

I am extremely impressed with how this is turning out. Can't wait to see the final painting. This would be cool to have a video zoomed in real close and slowly zoom out from the individual dots to the painting the dots form.
